He graduated from the Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague. His later study of Religious Studies at Charles University in Prague together with his four years of teaching position at Toyama City Institute of Glass Art in Japan led him to a unique mixture of cultural paradigms within his work. After showing at the 50th Venice Biennial in 2003 he participated in many group and solo shows internationally. Together with visual artist Daniel Hanzlík, they established a Time-Based Media studio at the Faculty of Art and Design at J. E. Purkyně University in Ústí nad Labem. Between the years 2015 – 2023, he served as a dean of the Faculty. He is currently also active as a designer of permanent and temporal exhibitions for museums and galleries as well as media art exhibitions curator. His art has been exhibited globally at museums and festivals such as the Hong Kong Museum of Art, The National Art Center in Tokyo, the Ars Electronica Festival, The New Technological Art Award Biennial in Belgium, FILE, ISEA, the Athens Digital Arts Festival and the Hong Kong Arts Festival. He was the recipient of the Hong Kong Arts Development Council Young Artist Award (2009) and Artist of the Year Award (2024).Works by the studio Dimension Plus have also been exhibited in various cities, including Fukuoka Asian Art Museum, the Ars Electronica Festival, and MUTEK. Additionally, the team has curated several exhibitions, including Hello, Human at MoCA Taipei, Hylozoism: An Arts & Technology Exhibition at HKDI, Encounter Once in a Lifetime - Toyo Ito Architecture Exhibition (the opening exhibition of the Taichung Theater), Sensory Canvas at the Ming Contemporary Art Museum in Shanghai, and the arts & technology incubation program Playaround series. He creates participatory and site-specific projects that often reveal the invisible and give shape to the intangible.Born in Hong Kong, he holds a BFA in New Media Art from the Toronto Metropolitan University, a postgraduate studies at Le Fresnoy – National Studio of Contemporary Arts in France (graduating with highest honours), and a MSc in Advanced Sustainable Design from the University of Edinburgh. He currently serves as Associate Professor at Hong Kong Baptist University’s Academy of Visual Arts, Programme Director of the BASc in Arts and Technology, and College Master of the Lo Siu Tong College.His projects combine historical resonance with contemporary technology to create contemplative experiences. Notable works include Twenty-Five Minutes Older (Art Basel Hong Kong commission), which transformed a tram into a mobile camera obscura cinema; After the Deluge, an immersive installation in an underground storm-water tank; and Musical Loom, converting an eighteenth-century loom into a light-and-sound instrument.His works have been featured at the Venice Biennale, Centre Pompidou, Museum of Contemporary Arts Rome, Guangzhou Triennial, Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennial, Land Art Biennial Mongolia, Hong Kong Museum of Art, and Art Basel Hong Kong, among others. The score received critical acclaim for itseclectic fusion of Didgeridoo and Fujara with electronic and orchestral elements.
